Make your embossing stencil: Tutorial

Hello All (and in particular, Sonia),

Here is my photo tutorial to making your own embossing stencils using simple things you can buy in any stationery store :)

I'll skip the text in the tutorial as I have added it to images :) I've used a paper piece that was randomly lying around, I'm sure all of you will use much better papers and emboss much better patterns :) I was so tutorial sick that I HAD TO post one :D

Since it is so cheap to make, you can just go on changing your embossing patterns and keep trying with anything at all :)

Cards - 1

Hello All,

Looking at so many crafters using scor-boards so effectively had been making me feel extremely guilty about sitting over mine! I had not even opened the packaging in last 20 days! After seeing Hussena's wonderful boxes and envelope, my guilt finally overcame me and I opened my scor board package. It is a BIT tricky to figure out things with it for someone like me........I have finished struggling and came up with this :) Thanks Hussena, for inspiring me :)

I know I have been extremely quiet on the blogging front and I am bursting to display what I have been working on of late. The full announcement will have to wait a while though! Here is a sneak preview for all the work-in-progress (WIPs)..........

Who knows.......only time..........

Hello All,

I have FINALLY finished this piece (the tutorial for the background is here)! It took ages because of all the 'figuring out' I had to do for making a clock! :) I am pleased with the result.....let's see what my client says :)

For some reason, Enya's "Only Time" is running in my head now..............

Who can say where the road goes, where the days close, Only time...........
Who can say if your love grows, as your heart chose, Only time.........:)

A rose is a rose is a rose :)

Hello All,

I feel SUPREMELY happy because I have created something new! I have to admit, having been a scientist helps in Arts and Crafts also! :) I did a bit of qualitative calculation and then, came up with this rose........I loved how it looks and I am hoping that I will create more realistic variations of the same :)

And yes, I have made this rose with paper, just ordinary 80 gsm red printing paper :)

And now an announcement, my Mumbai workshop participants on 9th June will be the first ones to learn this rose :)

Backlog clearing spree

Hello All,

I am SO happy that I finally have managed to finish this frame! I started it in sheer austere times (no supplies bought from India and hardly anything from Sweden!), hence the "basic" look of the frame. But I like this as this was my first frame really where I did so much of leaf-flower-making :)

I hope I will clear that last BIG pending order soon after this :)

Symmetrical Clock Background Tutorial

Hello All,

A super quick post for making the background (for a clock or anything hyper-symmetrically-circular) like this:

I have chosen the "gaps" as 3 cm but feel free to vary the design and try out combinations e.g. outwardly spanning sizes (1 cm innermost, 2 cm second one, 3 cm next one and so on and so forth). It will be a little complicated to make but rewarding after it finishes (I, for one, am trying that out next :)).......

Hope my video helps all aspiring clock-makers :D

The snapshots for Sonia (my Internet is working at a snail's pace, it took an hour to upload the video!)

A note: I don't own the rights for this design, it's a paper analogue of a Karlsson clock design.....

Against all odds

Hello All,

I have absconded for long periods of time but trust me, bad luck has been following me around like a shadow! And fighting all odds, this project (after a lost phone, two migraines and an eye-injury) has won..........I have managed to finish this seemingly jinxed project and I will pat myself on the back for this.

This project is unique in many aspects.......I have written the poem myself and this is one of my all time favourites! I've used a hand-made paper printed background for the first time. I have tons of these beautiful papers but I could never figure out how to use them. This time, I've taken a chance and I like the finished product :) The 'leaves' are hand-cut, from paper remaining as side strips from my visiting card printing. The paper cutting guy gave me a weird look for wanting to save an inch wide strip! But what the hell, I have used them and I love the way they turned out to be! The styrofoam balls were almost an afterthought and I looooove the way they give the 'ripe berry branch' effect to the project. The pink daisies around the text will remain in my memory because my punch has given way after them! :D I will miss my daisy punch and I hope I will be able to replace it soon.......

Thanks dear S, for placing this order and I hope you like what I have made :) I'll send it to you soon.....

Some new beginnings (and hopefully, long innings) :)

 Hello All,

I had been looking at the amazing works done by some phenomenal artists and, in the middle of my crazy schedule of workshops, I have miraculously managed to squeeze in this card. It is for a very special person and I hope she likes it too :)

This is a beginning with many new things: I've done paper cutting like that for the first time. The leaves were cut in paper and then, given black background from behind. I've used a "tile" pattern for the first time (I had this punch for more than 2 months but could never figure out how to put it to use :) Thanks to Nupur Priya, I now intend to use it regularly :)

I have a workshop day after and I am so looking forward to it. It's in my second home, Bangalore!!!!! Bangalore, here I come.......I will be a bit inactive for next one week but I hope to return with some good things.........hopefully, some new things as well :)
