Paper spiral video tutorial

Hello All,

Have you seen those perfect spirals some quillers use as stems for creepers? I love them and tried my own method of making those.

As promised, here is the tutorial for making those. The video isn't particularly high quality (my good camera is broken and I'm using a pretty outdated one) but I think, the concept is highlighted pretty decently.

Sketching resurrected

Hello All,

After a long silence, I am back. I have been working on this clock for a while and trust me, bulk of the time was taken by "creation" of that spiral digitally. I wanted it to be done properly and Logarithmic Spiral seemed the right choice to me (Boy! I wish there was a simpler way!!!!). I created the spiral digitally (thank Wiki for explaining what it is!) and printed it. The "rays" are hand-drawn and then, "hand-sketched". Long before I took up quilling, I used to sketch and I must admit, I enjoy it even now :) I loved those sunny colours and sketching them brought back my portrait memories :) The small black dots are done using black metalling 3D outliner.

In some ways, a very simple clock.............(this is just the dial, the time-piece will be fitted tonight) :)

This is Aadyaa Originals' gratitude to Ramesh Uncle, for his help with procuring craft material from USA and being kind enough to bring it all the way with him. Thank you so much, we owe you! :)

Spiral roses tutorial

Hello All,

This post is again a quick post, just to post a tutorial as I was struggling with making my spiral roses right! A lot of people make spiral rose tutorials, mine is just an attempt at sharing small tips that help me get a seamless look to my roses :)

Please notice the small things:

1. I cut the outermost edge of the spiral to avoid the 'hollow' at the centre of the rose that you'd get if you kept the tapered end.
2. I use the centre of the circle for gluing the spiral rose, it gives a very continuous unfurling of petal look :)
3. The 'width' of the spiral decreases as I reach the centre. This will make the 'petal' slant outwards as you curl them with decreasing height. No idea about you but I loved that proper spiral look :)
4. At around 0:48, I cut a small part of the spiral to round off the cut. This again helps make a continuous looking rose :)

So, here is the video (followed by the traditional snapshots (for one of my closest "Blends" - Sonia) :)
