For a photography and Social Media Buff

Hello All,

When a social media buff celebrates his birthday and the order for a gift frame comes to me, an instant kinship is felt ;)

So, here goes the 'design' I made for the frame:

And this is how the frame looked eventually :)

In a typical style, I've altered the colour scheme slightly to make it look less monotonous.......

Something rare is happening with this frame though, I am entering this in the Pratvam Progs 1000 likes challenge.

Feedback is very welcome :)

Kundan embroidery jhumka ;)

Hello All,

I have to start with, I am feeling mighty please with myself! :D Yesterday night was an unusually happy night where a pretty risky experiment paid off!

When I had a phone conversation with my supplier and a very dear friend Neha, of A-One Craft Supply about buying some half pearls, I am sure she wondered if I was right in the head! Asking for half pearls THAT small is kind of insane! ;) But she persisted, hunted them down and bought me the most marvellously useful craft supply........Neha, I owe you a zillion for this one :)

I have to thank my clients who don't even blink at allowing me to experiment wildly with various materials and processes :)

So, here goes, yesterday's R&D result..........a kundan embroidery look jhumka

The first trial is shown here (which didn't turn out great but then, if you do enough work, you'll eventually get there :D)

Thanks Ketaki and A-One Craft Supply, for making these possible :)

A simple wall clock

Hello All,

A very quick post to write about a very simple quilling + punch craft clock I literally pulled out of the hat! :D It was too short a notice for me to do anything more elaborate :) Feedback welcome........

Back after almost 3 months - Quilled Jewellery

Hello All,

Ah well..............yes, I know. It's been an eternity away from blogging world. A move and lot of settling down later, here I am, back with a quilled jewellery piece. Now, this kind of jewellery always stumps me. I never feel good enough, for it is ALL about finishing! There is forever this little paper here, little paper there that doesn't fall in place. But well.............here we go :) (made to order)

And a nostalgia experiment ;)

Sketching resurrected

Hello All,

After a long silence, I am back. I have been working on this clock for a while and trust me, bulk of the time was taken by "creation" of that spiral digitally. I wanted it to be done properly and Logarithmic Spiral seemed the right choice to me (Boy! I wish there was a simpler way!!!!). I created the spiral digitally (thank Wiki for explaining what it is!) and printed it. The "rays" are hand-drawn and then, "hand-sketched". Long before I took up quilling, I used to sketch and I must admit, I enjoy it even now :) I loved those sunny colours and sketching them brought back my portrait memories :) The small black dots are done using black metalling 3D outliner.

In some ways, a very simple clock.............(this is just the dial, the time-piece will be fitted tonight) :)

This is Aadyaa Originals' gratitude to Ramesh Uncle, for his help with procuring craft material from USA and being kind enough to bring it all the way with him. Thank you so much, we owe you! :)

My best, I think

Hello All,

After one sleepless night and 7 hours straight of only quilling, this is what I created. I am not particularly proud of the creation but I am, of the patience I displayed! Hehehehe! It's a very Larissa inspired creation (thanks Kate for the link). She is, of course, a class apart! I can never claim to be half as good but try, I will :) But I will always be fond of this project because there was nothing I HAD TO conform to, to make this one. I made it truly for my own pleasure (and I have a track record of doing my best when I am not under pressure!).....a creation just to please myself :) At the end, however, I decided that I want to gift it to a little girl, who turns 1 in some time. I know she won't even know what it is but maybe, some day, she will remember her Aunt who made this for her and appreciate it :)

I've used silver glitter pen to make the swirls as I think, swirls is my strong point. And my hands had been itching to use these lovely glitter pens I bought long long ago :) [Sorry for so many pictures, I couldn't stop clicking!]

Here is my creation and linking it to Crafty JC challenge # 12, Crafty Boots' "Anything Goes" challenge,

Sorry, no tutorials for this one as there is nothing difficult really that I have done. Just simple 3D petals involved (tutorial here) with a gradation of colour and some beehive quilling to fill the monogram :)

Hope y'all will like it :)

A quilled thanks

Hello All,

I am sorry for not commenting on all the lovely posts by everyone both on Facebook and Blogger. It has been a mad mad weekend with my in-laws leaving and me doing some special cooking (rum raisin cake and makki roti sarson saag).

But I DID manage to squeeze in a quilled card (this damn craft gets into your pores and doesn't let go!). And here is my quilled card.........one of my all time favourite flowers - Bird Cherry! I love photographing this flower and have hundreds of images. Finally, I have (approximately) quilled it :)

I am entering this for:

1. Thanks Challenge at For Fun Challenges
2. Gratitude Challenge by Crafty Creations
3. Thanks challenge by Scrap Creations
4. Thank you challenge using hoarded supplies (I majorly hoard card-paper, the one I have used as a background is a probably a good 3 yrs old, I think. The background paper is a scrapbooking paper out of my hoarded scrapbooking papers and I have NEVER made a single scrapbook! Hehehehe. The outline patterns are drawn by my hoarded Ikea kids' pens :D)
5. Thanks challenge TPE 126 by The Pink Elephant Challenges

3D petal tutorial

Hello All,

I had been waiting for a chance to make this tutorial and I found one! :) I am sorry about me singing in the first video and the people talking in the second! I just didn't have a quiet enough environment to make this video :)

For the people with slow Internet connection, there are video snapshots at the end :)

Video 1: 3D petal tutorial

Video 2: 3D petal with embellishment

Snapshots for Video 1:

Snapshots for Video 2:

You can, of course, change (increase or decrease) the size and depth of the petals and also, shape them differently.

This is, of course, my take on the 3D petals made both by Manu and Nati in their posts. I made them for my B'day card, Thank You card and the jewellery box.
