Happy Valentine's Day :)

Hello All,

Wish you all the starry eyed ones a very very happy Valentine's Day! :) In the honour of the day and also, this being my 100th post, I post here an honour "I" got from Homyachok Scrap Challenge blog: Being a guest design for the theme "Million Red Roses". Love is in the air and it is hard to resist feeling romantic! :)

Here is my creation (a photo-frame) for the challenge, as a guest designer.......

This was a specially tricky project because I am not a fan of pink and certainly, not of hearts. But rising above one's biases helps one mature as a person! :) I tried it and I think I like the final look. The "beehiving" of the heart took almost 5 hours to complete as I was gluing the rolled strips to the base as I was filling it up (large area "beehiving" can pop out if not held securely). The roses are spiral roses (which I was never able to make properly, so I tried some 12 times before I got a hang of it!), as per the requirement of the theme for the challenge :)

I am registering it for Lollipop Cards - With Love challenge

I dedicate this to my best friend, soul-mate and husband, Ananth. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't know life could be such a joy ride! He was my inspiration behind taking a step as bold and risky as taking up art full time when I am trained for being a scientist. This day and always, Ananth makes me live life the way one should - ENJOY!

This day is also special as I am in Indiaaaaaaaaaa now! Rest later, after I settle down (I know, I heard that I have to post my Valentine's Day challenge results too! :D).............

Take care all of you, stay warm and stay happy.....

Happy Quilling

Guest Designer For Crafty JC :)

Hello All,

A quick post (I am actually in the Arctic Circle, visiting the Ice-Hotel right now!) to announce my second Guest Designer creation for Crafty JC challenge # 13 and I have chosen New Year as the topic.

When given the theme New Year, I could only think of "cool" colours, being here, surrounded by snow. The first colours that come to the mind are blue and silver. Blue for the bluish hue around because of all the snow and silver because of snow sparkling when those occasional sun-rays fall on the snow. Once a theme like New Year came to me, I couldn't resist but try a project using my most recent acquisition in crafting - Quilling. I am relatively new to quilling and I hope this project inspires you too to pick up paper strips and just roll, roll, roll........

The project is made in one of my favourite styles of quilling - dual colour combination. The 2012 is filled with a newly learnt yet a favourite - beehive technique (that I seem to have fallen in love with). I hope to be able to soon print a 2012 calendar and attach it to this project. I wish all the participants in the challenge luck and hope that 2012 brings in a lot of positivity and energy in your lives. Season's greetings & hugs - Pritesh

I am submitting it to the Homyachok challenge

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

Hello All,

Mirror mirror on the wall,
Who's the prettiest of them all..............

And the mirror answered - It's me! :)

I have had this Ikea mirror with me for quite a long time. And I just didn't know how to put it to use. Just at that time, Kavitha gets in touch with me and I am the Guest Designer for her next challenge! When you truly want something, the Universe conspires to get it for you! :)

I have used an Ikea framed mirror, painted it with gold acrylic paint and lifted some paint off using a tissue paper. The main flower is a noodle petal flower I invented and the smaller flowers are semi-quilled, using a daisy punch. I am posting this on Crafty JC challenge # 12 (Holiday Favours) as well. :)

Happy Quilling
