Off-beat...........bead soutache again :)

Hello All,

When I saw Lulupu Craft Lounge's second B'day challenge notification, I so knew I had to participate. Not being a card-maker, I am more or less away from challenges as most involve cards. Add to that the inability to meet deadlines due to personal commitments and we have a recipe for non-participation in time-bound challenges! BUt this time, Lulupu has made it easier for us all. The challenge was to create something with the alphabets L, U, P, T, C. A minimum of three had to be incorporated. So, here is my take on it:

L - Layers (layers of paper used to make the 'base' for the soutache jewellery)
P - Paper (use for making the backing according to this method) and Pearl (flat back pearls used in the centre)
T - Thread (used to hold the beads together while arranging the beads)
C - Concentric circles (of beads in the jewellery)

I hope I qualify with this piece in Category 3 (everything else) :)

First Blogoversary...........challenge and giveaway :)

Dear All,

I don't believe it!!!!!!!!! ONE YEAR has flown by! I've written 140 posts and received so much love and appreciation from fellow crafters (and non-crafters too!)..........it's time to give back.........:)

There is no need to follow my blog, anyone can participate............since this is MY blogoversary, I am going to set a real tough challenge, in and of my favourite type of work.........are you prepared? :D

So, here comes my challenge............

You need to make a NON-CARD project, of minimum A4 size and it has to have Quillography {quilling text} in it. The majority technique has to be quilling, you can mix and match though. It has to be a new project, no backlinking please. As a pre-requisite, the image of the project has to have a ruler in it, so that I know that the project meets the required criteria. You have until Aug. 26 (11:59 pm, IST), 2012 to participate. I will announce the winner on Aug 27, 2012; the day I started my quilling blog, exactly a year ago :)

If you have a blog, create a post with pictures of your project and leave a link to your entry in the Comments section for this post. If you don't have a blog, you can e-mail your project's picture to pritzd@gmail.com. You have more than a month to participate.......so take your quilling tools out, let me see what you come up with. I HAVE set a tough challenge, I know. But well........you won't know what all you can do until you push yourself :)

And now, the Giveaway! I will be giving away a hand-made Quillography monogram frame in A4 size to the winner of my challenge :)

Till then...........

Happy Quilling

Pritesh

PS: My first ever quilled "project", using 300 gsm bronze paper and a broken needle :)

For those unfamiliar with quillography, here is a small tutorial (by no means like a class I take, but should help): http://quillingmesoftlee.blogspot.in/2012/03/after-long-hiatus-quilled-lettering.html

Happy Valentine's Day :)

Hello All,

Wish you all the starry eyed ones a very very happy Valentine's Day! :) In the honour of the day and also, this being my 100th post, I post here an honour "I" got from Homyachok Scrap Challenge blog: Being a guest design for the theme "Million Red Roses". Love is in the air and it is hard to resist feeling romantic! :)

Here is my creation (a photo-frame) for the challenge, as a guest designer.......

This was a specially tricky project because I am not a fan of pink and certainly, not of hearts. But rising above one's biases helps one mature as a person! :) I tried it and I think I like the final look. The "beehiving" of the heart took almost 5 hours to complete as I was gluing the rolled strips to the base as I was filling it up (large area "beehiving" can pop out if not held securely). The roses are spiral roses (which I was never able to make properly, so I tried some 12 times before I got a hang of it!), as per the requirement of the theme for the challenge :)

I am registering it for Lollipop Cards - With Love challenge

I dedicate this to my best friend, soul-mate and husband, Ananth. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't know life could be such a joy ride! He was my inspiration behind taking a step as bold and risky as taking up art full time when I am trained for being a scientist. This day and always, Ananth makes me live life the way one should - ENJOY!

This day is also special as I am in Indiaaaaaaaaaa now! Rest later, after I settle down (I know, I heard that I have to post my Valentine's Day challenge results too! :D).............

Take care all of you, stay warm and stay happy.....
